Surrey’s Cpl. Daniel Foulds and posted to the Area Support Unit near Wainwright, Alta, was one of 12 Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members who were chosen for the CAF Recognition Program and presented with a Chief of the Defence Staff Commendation for deeds or activities beyond the demand of normal duty.
He visited Ottawa from May 31 to June 3, 2013, to receive this honour and took part in several events.
During their visit, the members took part in the Walk/Run in Red, toured the Canadian War Museum and attended a special brunch hosted by Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Robert Cléroux, Canadian Forces Chief Warrant Officer.
They were also recognized in the House of Commons during Question Period on June 3.
Corporal Foulds enrolled in the CAF Regular Force as an Infantryman in 2002.
Before completing his Basic Infantry Qualification, he accepted an occupational transfer to Vehicle Technician. After his training, he was posted to 1 General Support Battalion at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton.
In January 2010, Corporal Foulds participated in Operation Podium, in support of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He was then posted to Canadian Forces Base/Area Support Unit Wainwright in July 2010 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011.
Foulds currently lives in Kinsella, Alta.
