Smith’s talk was titled, ‘Why Agriculture Needs Millennials’.

In her presentation Smith uses personal experience and agriculture-based research to explore the new era of Canadian farmers. By focusing on what millennials can bring to the table and how the current generation can help them achieve, Smith strikes a new perspective between the Canadian agriculture field and the millennials who will one day lead it.

She addresses the stereotypes surrounding younger generations and how the negative connotations they face can leave them doubting whether or not they are ready. Smith, questions whether or not her generation is ready to become the leaders of the country and the generation responsible for producing enough food for the largest population the world has ever seen.
