The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives is already getting into the Christmas spirit, with several events that will provide great gift ideas and much-needed support for the Salvation Army Food Bank and the museum.
Now in its third year, the Giving Tree returns thanks to the continued generosity of a long-standing supporter of the museum.
“Their donation of their 20-plus year collection of glass, hand-painted figural Christmas ornaments as well as vintage ceramics and glassware has made this fundraiser possible,” said Denise Marsh, with the museum’s gift shop and reception. “Some of the newly received ornaments are vintage glass ornaments from the 1930s to the ‘50s.”
The proceeds from this sale will be equally shared by the food bank and the museum.
The ornaments are on display and available for purchase at the museum anytime Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Dec. 21.
Meanwhile, mark your calendar for Dec. 12, when the museum celebrates the Gift of Giving from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Join us for a festive evening of shopping in our gift shop, creating beautiful Christmas bookmarks for your loved ones and sampling our Christmas baking,” said Marsh. “Grab a friend or family member or two and make an evening of it.”
With the exception of items in the Giving Tree fundraiser, 10 per cent will be deducted from all purchases in the gift shop.
If you’d like to make a holiday bookmark, please call the museum at 250-542-3142 to pre-register. The cost is $2 per bookmark. Krista Blackmore from Stampin’Up! Scrapbooking will be here to guide participants through the steps.
“Our gift to you will be draws throughout the evening,” said Marsh.
