Tours are a walk through history

Lawrna Myers once again leads popular tours through the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Vernon

Due to the overwhelming response for the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Tours in June, the Vernon Museum & the Family History Society are teaming up again, and Sept. 20 is the date to mark on your calendar.

“We’re offering two options this time: a Cemetery Walking Tour from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a light lunch or a Cemetery Tour from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. followed by afternoon tea,” said tour guide Lawrna Myers of the Family History Society. “The lunch and tea will both be hosted at the museum.”

Myers will touch on the famous, the infamous, the unfortunate, the rich and the poor during the tour.

“Local political figures, the Okanagan Hotel Fire victims and the Internment Camp detainees are among the dozen or so I’ll be talking about during the approximately two-hour walking  tour,” said Myers.

More information about the characters mentioned will be on display at the museum during the lunch and tea.

Tickets are $20 per person with a limit of 20 participants per tour. To avoid disappointment you’re strongly encouraged to purchase tickets early. Tickets are only available at the museum and will not be available on the event date.
