There is a new group of local artists working together within Barriere and area.

The new group is called Valley Artisans, and their promotional tag is “creative hands coming together”.

Barriere artist Marie Downing is one of the current six member group and says they hope to see there membership grow as word gets out about the new group.

“Our tag best describes our group,” says Downing, “As we are very diversified.  We have painters, mosaics, jewellery, pottery, sculptors, soaps and more.”

Downing says the group has plenty of enthusiasm to join together and present their work.  Their first showing will be a Christmas Art Show and Sale to be held from Dec. 16 – Dec. 18, in the old Sweetnam’s building next to the liquor store in Barriere.

Downing says the group is still taking applications from those who would like to join them and participate in the show and sale.

“We are still have a few spots left.” said the artist.
