Nancy Wilde has been named the top individual fundraiser for the 2011 Investors Group Walk for Memories, one of the largest annual fundraising events for the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

Wilde raised more then $26,000 for the walk honouring Wilde’s mother, Margery Wilde, which was held in Vernon earlier this year.

At the walk, Wilde was also honoured as a family caregiver and volunteer who has been a supporter of the Alzheimer Society for many years.

“It’s the celebration of lives lived and being lived as well as the tireless dedication and support of the communities that make our province-wide fundraising event a success,” said Jean Blake, CEO, Alzheimer Society of B.C.

“We want to recognize Nancy because her commitment to the cause also helps ensure the society is able to provide support and education to families and communities all across British Columbia.”

Participants from 21 communities across the province will take part in the Investors Group Walk for Memories Jan. 29, 2012. The 2012 walk in Vernon is dedicated to Ron Houston. The walk supports more than 70,000 people living with dementia in the province.
