On Mar. 15, 2014, people from around the world will be observing World Wide Quilting Day.
This special day is a global festival of everything related to quilting, the perfect time to celebrate your love of fabric, sewing and quilting.
Quilters practically have their own language; a conversation between quilters may include words such as slub, fat quarters, stippling, piecing, redwork, applique, mitered corners, loft, bearding, and clamshell.
Some cities and towns will have special events to mark the occasion, others may hold special workshops or courses.
Check with your local quilters group to see if they have anything interesting planned to mark the occasion.
There are at least three such groups in the North Thompson Valley: in Clearwater, the North Thompson Quilters; in Barriere, the Barriere Community Quilters; and in Sun Peaks, the Sun Peaks Quilters.
