A local artist’s painting has gone missing after it was displayed in an exhibit at Mastqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way).
Kim Janzen, a 22-year-old Abbotsford resident, hair dresser and artist, recently contributed a selection of paintings to the Atangard Community Project art exhibit at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium.
According to a news release from Atangard, when it came time came to dismantle the display, it was discovered that Janzen’s prized painting, an oil portrait of Bob Dylan, was missing from the the exhibit.
Janzen is making a public plea for the piece of art to be returned to her.
“Usually people who appreciate art want to support artists. This was never a piece I would’ve considered selling. It was a keepsake.”
The Matsqui Centennial Auditorium is only open to the public during council meetings and when the venue is rented.
According to the release, city staff say that never before has an incident like this occurred and they do not know how or when the painting was taken.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this painting is asked to contact the police.
