The Abbotsford Police Department has issued a public notice about the release from prison of a man with an extensive criminal history that includes assault and robbery.
John James St. Jean, 43, has been released from custody after serving a two-year sentence for domestic assault, and is not permitted to be in Abbotsford.
Const. Ian MacDonald said of particular concern to police is St. Jean’s history of violence in domestic situations.
“We feel that we must pro-actively work to protect the public, and women in particular, by sharing information about St. Jean,” he said.
St. Jean is under court order to disclose his criminal record to anyone with whom he intends on entering an intimate relationship, MacDonald said.
St. Jean is six feet tall and weighs 190 pounds.
His criminal history also includes assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.
