Alert resident thwarts possible trouble in Esquimalt’s Parklands neighbourhood

Victoria police officers credit an alert resident for leading them to two male youths

Victoria police officers credit an alert resident for leading them to two male youths who were allegedly spotted casing a house and yard in Esquimalt’s Parklands neighbourhood Monday morning.

The juveniles walked off down the street when they discovered they were being watched around 12:26 a.m. Police arrived soon after and located the males.

“The suspects  offered the standard excuse that they were ‘waiting for a friend’,” Victoria police Deputy Chief John Ducker wrote on the department’s online operations blog.

No arrests were made, and officers suggested the youths return home.

“We truly appreciate calls from citizens who see things or activities that don’t quite fit in their neighbourhood,” Ducker wrote.
