The man accused of robbing the Colwood CIBC bank three times will remain behind bars for at least another week.
Lorne Rodway is charged with three counts of using a restricted weapon during a robbery, three counts of disguising his face with the intent to commit an offense and one count of assault with a weapon.
The 59-year-old, wearing glasses and sporting a thick white handlebar mustache and goatee, appeared in court via video from the Vancouver Island Correctional Centre on Thursday. He will seek bail in person on June 23 in Western Communities Courthouse.
A masked man armed with a gun robbed the CIBC bank at 310 Goldstream Ave. three times in three months, on March 2, April 9 and June 1. No one was physically injured in the robberies, but bank staff and customers were traumatized.
Each time, the robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. But shortly after the June 1, 1:10 p.m. holdup, West Shore RCMP arrested a suspect on the strength excellent eyewitness descriptions of the robber and his vehicle.
