McClary’s Stockyard in Abbotsford raised $116,000 for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank at its annual Make a Difference Sale last Thursday.
Proceeds from this year’s auction will be used for Foodgrains Bank-supported projects in Syria that provide clean water and improve health care and nutrition for refugees.
For every dollar raised by the McClary auction, the federal government matches it four to one.
Items up for bid included farm tools, livestock, pressure washers, toys, hockey tickets, gift certificates, and potatoes.
Foodgrains Bank focuses on providing food assistance to communities internationally. To date, the organization has provided more than 1.1 million tonnes of food to people in need.
