Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are investigating a pair of weekend armed robberies, one of which resulted in arrests being made.

In Vernon, just before 8:45 p.m. Monday, a lone man entered Dollar Tree on 43rd Avenue. He produced a knife and stated “this is a robbery.”

“An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen and the man fled the store,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

No one was injured during this robbery, though Noseworthy said staff and customers were alarmed.”

The suspect is described as five-foot-eight wearing dark pants, white running shoes, a blue jacket, black toque and was wearing gloves.

In Armstrong, just after midnight Tuesday – Valentine’s Day – a woman entered 7-Eleven, produced a knife and stole an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise. The woman fled in a car.

“There were no customers in the store when this incident occurred,” said Noseworthy. “The two adult female employees, while not physically harmed, were left shaken by the ordeal.”

RCMP were on the scene quickly and located a vehicle that matched the description of the car used in the offence.

A 26-year-old woman, and two men, 24 and 26, were arrested and remain in custody.

The investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
