The crowd was buzzing before, but as Babbu Maan steps on the Abbotsford Centre stage it was electrified. The show was just getting underway as he finished performing Jaan.

And just when I thought it couldn’t get any louder, Babbu Maan decided to sing his hit single, Marno mool na darde which instantly brought the majority of fans to their feet as they danced to the upbeat tune.

The jammed-pack crowd showed no signs of slowing down as Babbu Maan’s engaging performances of Pehla sardar han and Chan Chandri raat attracted energetic fans to the lower level where they created their own dance floor.

Forget about an intermission, the performance was still going strong as Babbu Maan finished singing Chori chori jatti chamkila sundi.

Spectator Harman Minhas admits Punjabi music isn’t generally something he listens to but says “ever since the concert started I’ve enjoyed myself and couldn’t help myself from busting out some moves.”

This is Babbu Maan’s second time at this venue and there will most likely be a third. It’s been an outstanding night, way to represent Abbotsford!

Babbu Mann is widely famous for his distinctive music and lyrics; at present he is one of the greatest Punjabi singers. He has been instrumental in giving a new trend to Bhangra Music. Not only has he emerged as a popular Punjabi pop singer but he is a talented composer, lyricist, playback singer and actor as well.

Mann was born in the village of Khant Maanpur, in the Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab on March 18, 1975 and has been very fond of playing music since his childhood. From an early age, music ran in his blood as he always looked for a musical rhythm in everything he came across, even cooking pans. He learned how to write lyrics, at college (Punjab University, Chandigarh) when he was about 16. That experience led him en route to stardom and he has never looked back.
