The Best of Revelstoke is back for the third year running!
Last year, more than 1,100 people responded to the survey, answering questions like who has the best pizza and where the best view in town is.
The response was phenomenal and exceeded our wildest expectations. In the first year, we had 293 responses, so to say people like it is un understatement.
For our third year we’ve changed up some categories. We took out Best Pizza, because the Village Idiot won that easily two years in a row. Instead, we want to know who has the Best Nachos. Likewise, we changed out Best Fries for Best Poutine, Best View for Best Mountain, and added categories like Best Home or Hardware Store and Best Guiding Service.
We call the survey Best of Revelstoke, but realize it’s only for fun and the winners don’t get anything except for bragging rights and a certificate they can put on their wall. If you win, it doesn’t mean you’re the best, just that you’re the most popular. “Revelstoke’s Favourites” could be a better name, but it doesn’t roll off the tongue as well as “Best of Revelstoke” does.
We wholeheartedly encourage get-out-the-vote campaigns. Get your friends and customers to vote for you, and hopefully they’ll vote for a few other categories as well. Most of the 50 questions are multiple choice, and we hope we’ve included the full range of options for each one. If we missed you, we’re sorry and promise it wasn’t intentional. There is an ‘Other’ option if you feel we didn’t include your favourite.
Other questions, like Most Dedicated Volunteer and Best Artist are open answer so you can put it anyone you like. As usual, our final question is open ended. This year we want to know, “The one thing in Revelstoke you’d recommend a ski bum do to truly appreciate the town.”
You can fill out the survey in the paper or online at surveymonkey.com/r/bestofrevelstoke2016. You can answer one question or all 50 – it’s up to you!
The deadline to enter is Sunday, September 4. We’ll count the results that week then publish them, along with stories about some of the winners, in the fall issue of the View which will hit newsstands at the end of September.
Thanks for taking part!
