Quick action put out a piece of equipment that caught fire early Wednesday morning at Blaze King on Commercial Way.
The filter on a piece of a equipment which is designed to capture gasses from welding operations caught fire around 6:30 a.m.
“It usually doesn’t catch the filter on fire, so it must have been an extra large or extra hot piece or something,” said Deputy Chief Dave Spalding of Penticton Fire Rescue.
Fire crews shut the machine off, rolled out the piece of equipment and used the dry chemical extinguisher and the fire was put out without incident.
Eight firefighters attended and crews remained on scene after extinguishing the fire to ventilate the building.
“That was it, then it was back to welding,” Spalding said.
