Boat sanitary station open to public

As boating season comes to an end, the Vernon Yacht Club is offering an important service to the public

As boating season comes to an end, the Vernon Yacht Club is offering an important service to the public.

The club is opening its sanitary pump-out station to the boating public this week, until Sunday.

“It’s that time of year when boaters look at taking their boats out of the water and getting them ready for the long winter nights,” said Chris Grotterod, with the club.

The pump-out will be shut down for the season Sunday, therefore anyone interested in accessing it can contact the Vernon Yacht Club at 250-545-5518.

The public is also invited to come check out the spectacle on Crane Day Nov. 8.

“Bring the family down to the Vernon Yacht Club on Saturday, Nov. 8 and watch a very big crane lift sailboats and motorboats out of the water for the winter,” said Grotterod, adding that the public is invited to come and watch the spectacle from inside the clubhouse or from the raised deck.

Crane Day runs from 8 a.m. to noon.

A hot breakfast sandwich with a hot chocolate or coffee will be available for purchase from 9 a.m.

The Vernon Yacht Club is located at 7919 Okanagan Landing Rd., just past Paddlewheel Park.
