Bylaw open house

The District of Hope will be hosting an open house to gather public input on a major update to the zoning bylaw.

The event takes place June 16, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the recreation centre located at 930 6th Ave.

The existing zoning bylaw dates back from 1996, although many site specific amendments have been made. The objective of the rewrite is to make the bylaw more user-friendly and improve clarity for the public, staff, developers and companies that may which to establish a presence in Hope.

specific issues to be addressed include considering the merits of allowing coach houses and secondary suites.

Some other issues include the need for separate zoning for townhouses, comments on parking standards, accessory uses such as home occupations and mobile homes will also be addressed.

The rewrite will incorporate recent provincial changes such as sustainability initiatives and measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Everyone is invited to attend this open house. For more information contact Jas Gill at 604-869-5671.
