Cache Creek runner first in Kamloops

Local runner Ryan Day has another success at the Kamloops marathon.

Cache Creek’s Ryan Day made it two for two when he won the second ever Kamloops Marathon. Day won the inaugural race in 2012, and was the first male across the finish line this year, in a time of two hours, 42 minutes, and 19.9 seconds.

Day, from the Bonaparte Indian Band, struggled with stomach problems throughout the race, and finished seven minutes behind his 2012 time.

A total of 252 athletes took part in this year’s marathon and half marathon. For the first time, the Kamloops full marathon acted as a qualifier for the prestigious Boston Marathon.
