As part of regular road maintenance, summer pavement repairs and filling in Campbell River will continue this year, with a focus on the highway from the BC Ferries terminal south this month.
The work will begin July 16 or 17 and take from seven to 10 days to complete.
“Drivers are asked to watch for small crews with trucks, and to follow the direction of flaggers as they keep traffic flowing,” says Drew Hadfield, the City’s transportation manager. “Thanks in advance for helping us keep people rolling in Campbell River!”
The city also advises that temporary concrete dividers and signs will be installed to indicate a reduced speed zone along Galerno Road between Cottonwood and Vista Bay while repair work is underway on the Simms Creek culvert.
Speed will be reduced from 50km/h to 30 km/h; and weight restrictions remain in place, with the exception of transit buses and garbage trucks.
“We want to remind people that this is not a designated truck route, so only buses, garbage trucks and over-size vehicles making local deliveries are permitted along this route,” Hadfield adds.
