Campbell River RCMP are investigating a pair of robberies that took place on consecutive days this week.
Suspects have been arrested in both cases, which RCMP Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard said are unrelated.
Just before 8 p.m. Sunday, April 12, a man entered the Booster Juice store in Merecroft Village, went directly behind the counter and grabbed the employee, forcing the employee to open the till.
The employee was not hurt, RCMP and store management confirmed, but the suspect grabbed cash from the register and fled on foot. Later that evening, as police investigated a separate and unrelated incident, they managed to locate and identify the suspect, a 42-year-old male of no fixed address who recently arrived in the area.
The suspect was charged with one count of robbery.
On Monday, April 13, RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at the Jolly Giant convenience store on 7th Avenue. Multiple suspects were reported to have entered and produced a weapon, and had fled by the time police arrived. The type of weapon was not identified.
Through investigation and use of the local police dog, investigators were able to locate and arrest two male and two female suspects, all from Campbell River. The two men are well-known to police, Beauregard reported.
A search warrant was executed on the residence and evidence seized. The investigation is still unfolding, Beauregard said.
