Canada Day celebrations in Abbotsford

Two parades, two pancake breakfasts, activities at Exhibition Park and a fireworks display mark Canada's birthday.

The City of Abbotsford and the community of Mt. Lehman host their annual Canada Day celebrations this Sunday, July 1.

The city’s event begins with the Optimist Club pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Cadet Building at Abbotsford Exhibition Park (32470 Haida Drive).

The Prospera Credit Union parade follows at 11 a.m., leaving from the area of Ware Street and South Fraser Way and travelling to the area of Trethewey Street and George Ferguson Way.

Free activities then take place from 1 to 10 p.m. at Exhibition Park and include main stage entertainment, an international food fair, dog flyball demonstrations, community displays, roving circus performers and more.

Canada Day cupcakes will be served at 2:30 p.m.

The public is also invited to the Cadet Building from 2 to 4 p.m. to see displays from students competing in the Provincial Heritage Fair, running from June 29 to July 3.

The festivities conclude with a fireworks display at 10 p.m. at Rotary Stadium. For more, visit abbotsford.ca/canadaday.

Celebrations in Mt. Lehman begin at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the community hall, located at 6418 Mt. Lehman Rd.

A parade begins at 9:30 a.m., starting from the Mt. Lehman Credit Union at 5889 Mt. Lehman Rd. Cake and festivities follow at the community hall.

Anyone wanting to participate in the parade by driving their car, motorcycle, tractor, bicycle or float, or by walking or Rollerblading, is invited to meet at the credit union by 9 a.m.
