A Vernon woman was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian after her car struck a man on a scooter in a Vernon crosswalk Tuesday afternoon.
The woman, 68, was westbound on 48th Avenue when she turned left onto 20th Street. That’s when she hit the man on the scooter, who was crossing on a greenlight advance and was in the crosswalk.
The driver said she didn’t see the man on the medical scooter in the crosswalk.
The man, 64, was knocked off the scooter.
He was checked out at the scene by emergency services personnel and was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with a suspected fractured arm or dislocated shoulder.
