hedd: Celebrate Oceans Day in Sidney
Celebrate the Parks Canada centennial on World Oceans Day, in Beacon Park.
On Sidney’s waterfront, in Beacon Park, Parks Canada will host a free Orca Interpretive Program and a performance by the Beaver Tales Theatre Company. There will also be live music from The Push, the Island’s best classic rock band, face painting for kids, displays and stories from Vancouver Island Regional Library, and boat tours offered by EcoCruising.
Other exhibitors in Beacon Park include Capital Regional District, Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, Straitwatch, Habitat Stewardship Program, Seachange Marine Conservation Society, Raincoast Conservation Society, Saanich Marine Rescue Society, BC Marine Trails Network, and the Ocean 98.5FM Community Cruiser.
Next door, the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre, will offer a host of indoor and
outdoor fun in honour of World Oceans Day. On June 5, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. visit the centre for crafts, hands-on microscope displays, videos, and a preview sample of the aquarium’s upcoming summer theme Deep Dive! Deep Discovery!
