Voting members of the Summerland Chamber of Economic Development and Tourism cast ballots in the advance polling for the board elections.
Chamber manager Lisa Jaager said around 18 people came out for the advance voting on Friday.
This is the first time advance voting has been in place for the chamber elections and Jaager said she is pleased with the turnout.
As of Dec. 31, there were 807 businesses in the chamber, but not all are eligible to vote as some are associate members and corporate members.
Traditionally, voter turnout has been low in the chamber elections.
“We need businesses to come out and vote,” Jaager said.
There are eight candidates on the ballot and five vacancies on the seven-member board.
The chamber’s Annual General Meeting, which includes the election of directors, is on Tuesday, March 13 at the Summerland Seniors’ Drop-in Centre, 9710 Brown St. A reception will be held at 5 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m.
