The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, together with its community partners, is asking the community to speak up about what kind of city they want to live in.
“We are inviting people to tell us what they would like our city to look like in the year 2020 – as a place in which to live, work and play,” said chamber president Mike Welte.
The chamber launched a website – www.Abbotsford2020.com – where the community can enter their ideas.
The organization states that the goal of the initiative is to stimulate dialogue from residents as to what the city should look like; identify the major themes, issues and innovative ideas; and create a platform for discussion and action leading into this year’s review of the Official Community Plan (OCP) and the fall municipal election.
Residents can participate by completing the form online, or print it off and send it in by email to bold@abbotsford2020.com or fax: (604) 850-6880.
Those interested can also attend one of the forums where there will be the opportunity to submit an idea in person. The first forum, for chamber members only, is on March 20 at 7 p.m. in Matsqui Centennial Auditorium. Dates for other public forums will be announced shortly.
The results will be compiled and released in a final report due in September 2014, just in time for the fall municipal election campaign.
