Charge laid after bank damage

One person is facing charges in connection with the break-and-enter at the Royal Bank, Shops at Polson Park branch, April 9.

Two men in a stolen truck backed into the front entrance of the bank, and police believe the two suspects, who were caught by surveillance cameras, were trying to get the bank’s ATM machine.

The truck also damaged nearby businesses with a swinging chain after it fled the premises.

The two men were part of a group of four arrested in Salmon Arm the next day on a variety of robberies in the Shuswap region.

Jason Cameron, 33, from the Shuswap, has been charged with one count of break-and enter, and a second charge of mischief under $5,000, in relation to the offences in Vernon.

The second man has not been charged for the offences in Vernon, but it is possible he could face charges as a result of the ongoing investigation in the Salmon Arm area.
