Charity campaign clarified

The Vernon RCMP are not involved in a recent telephone campaign by the Canadian Police Association.

The Vernon RCMP would like to let residents know it is not involved in a recent telephone campaign by the Canadian Police Association.

The campaign callers are telling local residents they are raising money for the association’s national anti-bullying educational program. The RCMP is not affiliated with the Canadian Police Association.

In recent days the Vernon RCMP has received numerous phone calls from citizens inquiring whether the telephone solicitation is legitimate.

“The CPA has confirmed a marketing firm was contracted to undertake a telephone campaign asking for donations to support this campaign,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

Anyone with questions about the CPA campaign, can call 1-613-231-4168, extension 229 or visit www.cpa-acp.ca.
