Chilliwack couple nabbed for drugs, home thefts

Chilliwack RCMP are reporting another “clean sweep” in its program to disrupt drug dealers and slam the door on break-ins in the Chilliwack area.

A 38-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, both of Chilliwack, were arrested Friday after a search warrant was executed at a home in the 50000-block Lookout Road.

Forty-four marijuana plants were seized, along with more than 50 items that police believe were stolen during break-and-enters in the Chilliwack and Ryder Lake areas.

The seized items include power tools, antiques, art work, jewelry, furniture, computers and personal identification.

“Investigators are continuing to determine the rightful owners of the property,” Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth said.

Cpl. Kurt Bosnell, a member of the Chilliwack RCMP’s crime reduction unit, said police are hoping the search warrant will end a rash of property crimes that has been happening in the Ryder Lake area.

The suspect couple, Mark Perkinds and Kimberley Gribbon, have been charged with drug possession and several counts of possession of stolen property.

Police are asking anyone living near the Lookout Road home to report anyone now living in the residence since a no-occupancy order was made by the city as a result of the marijuana grow-op.
