The Chilliwack RCMP are asking for the public’s help to find a pair of armed robbery suspects.
Just after 2 a.m. last Thursday morning two men with covered faces entered a convenience store in the 45900 block of First Avenue.
One stood watch at the door. Carrying a can of spray, the other approached the till and demanded money.
The employee objected, was sprayed and the two men ran off empty handed.
“Fortunately the employee was not injured by the spray,” said RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail. “But the same individuals are believed to be responsible for a second robbery committed later in the morning.”
Around 5 a.m. two men did the same thing in a business in the 45700 block of Yale Road, this time escaping with money and stolen merchandise.
The suspects in the first robbery were described as Caucasian males. One was approximately five-foot-two wearing black clothing and a hoody. The second was approximately five-foot-seven wearing dark clothing.
One of the suspects in the second robbery is described as a significantly taller Caucasian man, six-foot-two, wearing a white hoody and accompanied by a shorter Caucasian man in a black hoody.
“Our General Investigation Support Team continues to follow up on investigational leads to apprehend the persons responsible for these robberies,” Rail said. “We are also looking at whether the suspects are linked to a robbery which occurred earlier in the month.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
