After nearly a year of searching, Chilliwack school district has finally appointed a new superintendent.
The school district issued a press release Wednesday afternoon announcing the appointment of Evelyn Novak to superintendent of schools for the Chilliwack school district, effective August 15, 2012.
Novak has a bachelor of education, a post graduate diploma in educational administration and a masters of education, which focused on the roles and functions of an effective CEO in a public education environment.
Novak also has an extensive background in teaching, school-based administration and district-level leadership. She hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where for the past six years she was CEO of the Prairie Spirit School Division.
Novak is known for her collaborative leadership style, which was evident in her work in amalgamating three school divisions. She is also held in high regard for her work in uniting cultures, communities and staff with a 90 per cent satisfaction rating.
Novak will be replacing superintendent Michael Audet, who was hired last June on a one-year temporary contract after former superintendent Corinne McCabe resigned from her position a year before her contract completed.
Audet’s contract expires on July 31, but indicated to The Progress earlier this week he may be needed longer for transition.
