Wendy Dupley will be joining the city of Abbotsford on Sept. 22 as the new director of economic development.
“(Dupley) brings with her over 25 years’ experience in the public, private, and international sectors,” said city manager George Murray.
Dupley has international experience and served as the regional executive manager in the department of immigration and citizenship for the Australian government, in Washington D.C., working throughout the Americas region.
Dupley has also held various management and leadership roles in the United Kingdom private sector, and previously held a position with the government of Alberta as the executive director of labour attraction for the ministry of employment and immigration.
She was recently nominated to the Economic Development Association of Canada’s board of directors, and is currently the executive director of the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta.
“We are all looking forward to the innovation and opportunity that Wendy will bring with her to her new role,” said Murray. “I know she is especially looking forward to the opportunity of meeting our local business and community leaders in the coming months.”
