The City of Vernon has been selected for a performance audit on operational procurement by the Auditor General for Local Government.

The audit will assess the practices followed by the city to acquire a broad range of goods and services necessary to the provision of programs to the public.

Catherine Lord, acting Vernon mayor, said, “In June of last year, the City of Vernon sent a letter to MLA Eric Foster asking him to encourage the minister’s office to place Vernon in the forefront of the audit process for local governments.

“We are pleased to learn that we have been selected. Council’s objective is to make sure the city services that we deliver are using best practices. We are looking for the support and advice of the auditor general’s office, through this audit, to continue to enhance our service delivery to the citizens of Vernon.”

The city will soon be receiving more detail describing the approach to the audit.
