City of Vernon crews and contract forces have started the spring sweeping and flushing program.
High-volume roads that generate excessive dust will be completed first.
“The remaining residential areas will be completed as soon as the road edges are clear of snow,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, communications co-ordinator.
“The spring sweeping program will take about four to five weeks to complete; timing will be dependent on weather conditions.”
Residents are encouraged to sweep sand from sidewalks onto the road prior to the mechanical sweepers entering their neighborhoods.
“Residents should also watch for spring sweeping in progress signs in their area and park off roadways when possible,” said Laing Gahr.
