The City of Vernon is seeking public assistance after numerous parking meters were vandalized.

Seventy-four meters were damaged in total Sunday, with the clocks from 72 meters broken or removed. This resulted in about $20,000 in damages.

Nineteen meter clocks have been recovered in various states of damage. There was no money stolen from the meters.

“The city is hoping the public can assist by providing any video footage from surveillance cameras or helping locate missing meters or meter parts,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, communications co-ordinator.

“Council policy allows a $500 reward for supplying information to the RCMP which results in the conviction of people damaging civic property.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vernon RCMP and quote file 2015-26425.
