City work will close pedestrian walkway in Vernon

The area impacted is the 25th Avenue multi-use path between 37th and 41st streets

Pedestrian traffic will be temprarily sent off course in one Vernon neighbourhood.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be re-routed off the 25th Avenue multi-use path and on to a temporary sidewalk Monday and Tuesday between 37th and 41st streets.

“There will also be a lane closure to vehicular traffic of the west bound curb lane,” said Michael Klymchuk, the city’s municipal development technician.

“Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to be careful and use caution when using the temporary sidewalk. Motorists are asked to slow down in the area.”

The city will excavate impacted soils in the multi-use linear park and adjacent properties for off-site disposal by truck.

In order for the excavation to take place, four memorial trees and plaques will be professionally removed, stored and replanted back to their original locations.
