Community Agricultural Workshop slated

Canim Lake Band hosting a workshop on beef marketing, agriculture

The Canim Lake Band (CLB) is holding a Community Agriculture Workshop with some exciting speakers, including Don Basserman as the luncheon speaker on Feb. 18.

The workshop focus will be on beef marketing, and it takes place in the CLB gymnasium from 10:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The workshop will start with an introduction and welcome by Chief Mike Archie and an opening prayer.

There will be a number of great presenters during the event, including Shelley Humble who will talk about the First Nations Beef Market Research Project and a CLB Agriculture Strategy presentation by Roy Christopher.

Rita Giesbrecht will talk about the South Cariboo Agri-culture Enterprise Centre and Canim Valley 4-H Club A leader Michelle Archie, A Leader will also make a presentation.

The workshop will wind up with a presentation by local producers talking about their farming and ranching businesses.

Booths will be set up during the day for folks to get more information about the agriculture industry. Participants will be able to ask presenter questions about their businesses and what they had to do to start their businesses and to continue to grow.

Folks must register in time to give the organizers a head count for lunch preparation.
