Community rallies around Vernon Jubilee Hospital

With $187,761 raised to date, Light a Bulb is at 76 per cent of its goal

With concern about falling short of its $250,000 goal for Light a Bulb, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation reached out to the community for support.

Individuals, businesses and organizations responded with donations of more than $80,000.

“We are overwhelmed with the generosity of our community,” said Chris Cunningham, campaign co-chairperson.

With $187,761 raised to date, Light a Bulb is at 76 per cent of its goal to support the Building a Tower of Care campaign to raise funds to equip the sixth and seventh floors of the Polson Tower.

Campaign donations to Light A Bulb include Vineyard Automotive, Lavington Ladies Work Group, Inland Kenworth, Nature’s Fare, Value Village, Vernon Alliance Church and the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans.

“We have received many phone calls and visits from community members over the past week offering their heartfelt support,” said Cunningham.

“It’s very encouraging that people understand the urgency of this campaign to help bring our hospital up to modern standards of care.”
