The Comox Valley Farmers’ Market will move to the parking lot of the CV Sports Centre on Vanier Drive for the July 13 market only.
With the growing popularity of MusicFest and the market, organizers of both events worked together this year to help alleviate problems with traffic and parking that happen when nearly 13,000 people converge in one location.
“It was important to find the best possible solution,” said MusicFest production manager Cresslynn Fay. “The market has been wonderfully accommodating and we’ll make sure everyone coming to the Farmers’ Market on July 13 finds it.”
MusicFest volunteers will redirect market patrons to the temporary location and additional signage will be posted.
Farmers’ Market hosts more then 60 vendors, drawing between 1,500 and 3,000 patrons each Saturday.
“This is a trial run,” markets manager Vickie Brown said. “If we can make it work it will make all of our lives easier in the years to come.”
For many vendors the market is a major source of farm revenue.
Vancouver Island MusicFest takes place at the Comox Valley Exhibition grounds July 12–14. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. on the Friday.
