Comox Valley RCMP track down and arrest Campbell River resident

The man remains in custody and is facing numerous charges of possession of stolen property, flight from police and drive while disqualified

The Comox Valley RCMP took a 36-year old Campbell River man into custody using a true team approach, they said.

Just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, the Comox Valley’s RCMP traffic section was working in the Black Creek area when they attempted to pull over a green Ford Explorer.

The driver of the vehicle refused to pull over and continued traveling northbound on the Island Highway before turning down Lalum Road.

The driver fled the vehicle on foot when he reached a gate partway down this gravel road.

The RCMP had now confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen out of Courtenay a couple of days prior.

With the assistance of the RCMP helicopter, the police dog section, general duty members, plain clothed members, and the forensic section, the RCMP successfully took the man into custody.

The man remains in custody at this time and is facing numerous charges of possession of stolen property, flight from police and drive while disqualified.

“The RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding as we worked to capture the suspect while ensuring the safety of local residents and families camping in a nearby campground,” said Const. Nicole Hall of the Comox Valley RCMP.
