Construction remains steady

There were 19 housing starts in August compared to 22 during the same month in 2013.

“The trend in housing starts for both single-detached and multiples was relatively unchanged, reflecting stable demand for new homes,” said Sarena Teakles, with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Of the 19 starts, there were 14 single-detached units and five multiple units.

Year-to-date, there have been 132 units of all types constructed in Vernon.

That is compared to 129 units during the first eight months of 2013.
