Cops for Cancer tours the Valley

A team of 21 riders will cover more than 800 kilometres in nine days (Sept.22-30) as the Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley takes place.

Cops for Cancer riders, participating in the Tour de Valley, stopped at Thrifty Foods on North Parallel road in Abbotsford on Saturday afternoon. The riders spoke to the crowd and gave kids hockey-card-style pictures of themselves which include tips on eating healthy, exercising and using sunscreen. Thrifty, a sponsor of the ride, has been fundraising for several months, including selling staff recipe books, and will announce its total at year’s end.

The event, which features riders from law enforcement and emergency services personnel, raises funds to help beat childhood cancers.

Riders will be in Abbotsford tomorrow, visiting a series of elementary and secondary schools and talking to students about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

On Saturday the group made several stops, including Tradex, where there received $4,000 from Fraserway RV and $1,500 from Tradex staff.
