Retired Mission administrator Glen Robertson has been appointed interim chief administrative officer for the District of Mission.

Robertson, who previously served as CAO before his retirement three years ago, will take over on a month to month basis until a new CAO for the district is hired. Robertson worked as CAO in Mission from 1990 to 2012.

Robertson has suspended all internal and external activities related to a development application he initiated in November 2012 for his personal property.

“We welcome Glen’s experience and expertise while we undertake the search for a new CAO for Mission,” said Mayor Randy Hawes.

The search for a top administrator will begin immediately and is anticipated to take three to four months to complete .

Last Friday Mission council terminated its contract with Ken Bjorgaard, who replaced Robertson when he retired.

At the time, Hawes said, “This was a significant decision for us. As mayor and council, we carefully considered all aspects and feel it was a step we needed to take. We thank Ken for his service and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

The district did not release any more information, citing confidentiality between the district and its employees.

Bjorgaard worked in the district’s finance department for 11 years before becoming CAO.
