Creston RCMP responded to 65 calls from Feb. 20-26, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said on Feb. 27.

February 24

•A complaint about loud music on Vancouver Street was referred to the Town of Creston bylaw department.

•”Do not touch old explosives,” was Gollan’s recommendation to anyone who comes across such items. A Smith Road resident moved a box containing 40 crystallized sticks of dynamite from an old barn before calling the police. “These things can be very unstable. Please call police and don’t attempt to move explosives on your own.”

•A repeat shoplifting offender at a 10th Avenue business was taken to hospital for assessment under the Mental Health Act.

•An adult driver and passenger sustained minor injuries when their vehicle rolled over in poor weather conditions on Canyon-Lister Road. Two children in the vehicle were not injured.

•Police were unable to locate a maroon Toyota sedan reported to be tailgating and driving unsafely on Canyon-Lister Road.

•Another vehicle rolled over off Highway 3A in the bad weather. The driver sustained minor bruising and vehicle had to be towed.

•A well-being check revealed that the male resident of 11th Avenue had the flu, but was otherwise OK.

•An apartment resident on Cook Street who had received an eviction notice informed the property manager of his intent to “celebrate” by hosting a large party. Police contacted the man and advised him not to do so. He went ahead with the party, but when police were called the last guests were leaving and things seemed to be OK.
