Creston RCMP responded to 72 calls for service from May 21-27, Staff Sgt. Bob Gollan said on Monday. (The first part of Gollan’s report can be found here.)
May 24
•Police were unable to find any unusual noise when they responded to a noise complaint on 10th Avenue South.
•A complaint about excessive noise on Hillside Street was referred to the town bylaw department.
•A youth who ran out onto Pine Street and was struck by a slow moving vehicle was determined not to have been injured.
•The driver of a slow moving vehicle on Highway 21 who sped up and tailgated a vehicle that passed him was issued a verbal warning about his behavior.
•Police assisted Nelson RCMP in serving a subpoena to an Ellis Road residence.
•A vehicle parked in a Canyon Street parking lot sustained extensive damage when it was badly scraped by a key or other sharp object.
•An intoxicated male on Birch Street was arrested and held in police cells until sober.
•Assault charges are being recommended for a father and son who assaulted their 12-year-old son and brother. The pair were arrested and later released with conditions.
May 25
•Good fences don’t always make good neighbours, as evidenced by a dispute between two Erickson Road neighbours, who are apparently in possession of land surveys that don’t agree.
•A report of fraudulent cheques was reported from a Northwest Boulevard address.
•Police were called regarding a neighbours’ dispute on Johnson Road in Yahk.
•A complaint about a female stalking a male was received from Beam Road.
•An intoxicated male called 911 to ask why police are restricting his telephone use. Further investigation led police to conclude the cellphone contract has been discontinued, but that the 911 function remains in use, as required by law.
May 26
•Police are investigating a case of people drinking in public on Eastman Road in Riondel.
•A father reported that his estranged wife had taken their child to Mexico in contravention of their custody agreement.
•Police are investigating a complaint about a white Ford Taurus driving erratically on Highway 3.
•A ride-on lawnmower tipped over on a Highway 3A, trapping the male driver beneath it for a half-hour before he was found by a neighbor. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
•A Cook Street business reported that a male was dumpster diving, but Gollan pointed out that this is not a criminal offense.
•Police were called twice about a loud party on Davis Road, but were unable to find evidence of excessive noise.
May 27
•A motel in Crawford Bay was broken into by people who used the hot tub.
•Two youths who were on the roof of the fire hall on 10th Avenue North said they went up to retrieve their Hacky Sack. They were advised to report future losses to fire department personnel.
•An unoccupied vehicle rolled backward over a bank on Highway 3A and landed on its roof on the highway.
•A patrolling officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 3 whose owner had been warned to remove illegal window tinting that obscured the front door windows. Only factory tinting is allowed under the law, Gollan said. The owner was ticketed for the infraction and for having expired insurance.
•An intoxicated male who was confronted at an 11th Avenue South residence threatened police with a knife and an aerosol can and lighter before jumping off a balcony. He was arrested and is being held in police cells until a hearing is conducted.
