CUPE Local 556 and the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) have reached a tentative collective agreement.
CUPE announced the tentative agreement Wednesday.
The parties have been in negotiations since December 2010.
The agreement must still be ratified by 70 members of CUPE 556 and the CVRD board, according to CUPE.
Details will not be released until both sides have ratified the tentative agreement, noted the release.
At the same time as this tentative agreement has been reached, CUPE 556 continues its negotiations with the City of Courtenay.
Courtenay’s chief administrative officer, Sandy Gray, had no updates on the bargaining process Thursday.
“The negotiations are ongoing,” he said.
The city workers of Courtenay, represented by CUPE 556, voted 92 per cent to strike “for fairness and respect on the job” in April.
CUPE 556 represents about 80 inside and outside workers in the City of Courtenay who are seeking a three-per-cent increase in every year of the contract, as well as “improvements ensuring the fair distribution of work.”
The union and the City had reached a tentative agreement earlier in April through mediation, but they returned to the bargaining table after the union members rejected it.
