Drinking and speeding drivers pay handsomely

The 100 Mile House RCMP responded to 88 calls for service in the past week.

 

Drunken stupidity

On April 22, a uniformed member observed a vehicle leave a Lac la Hache business, drive erratically and almost make contact with another vehicle.

A vehicle stop was initiated and the driver spoken to, and he exhibited gross signs of impairment by alcohol. He was served a 90-day prohibition from driving, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

The vehicle did not have any valid insurance on it, and the driver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for no insurance.

 

Lead foot

On April 21, a white Chevrolet Cavalier, travelling northbound at a very high rate of speed, passed a stationary police vehicle at near 83 Mile on Highway 97.

A vehicle stop was initiated and through investigation it was learned that the driver had consumed alcohol in quantities enough to have the vehicle impounded for three days. The driver was also charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for speeding.

 

Assault investigation

On April 21, RCMP officers attended a complaint of a possible assault at a local business in 100 Mile House.

Two women, both known to the 100 Mile House RCMP were allegedly fighting. The investigation is still on going.

 

Toys stolen

On April 21, the 100 Mile RCMP Detachment received a complaint of a cabin break and enter in the Mahood Lake area.

A 14-foot Thornes aluminum car topper boat, a two-horsepower Evinrude motor, a yellow 16-foot double end canoe, along with gas can were taken.

Any witnesses or persons, who may have been offered these items for sale, are requested to contact the 100 Mile RCMP detachment at 250-395-2456.

 

Cabin B&E

On April 21, police received a complaint of another cabin break and enter in the Eagle Creek area.

This cabin was broken into and vandalism to the interior was committed. An undisclosed amount of change was taken.

 

Speeding drivers

Between April 19 and 26, 100 Mile RCMP officer located seven separate vehicles travelling at excessive speeds (40-plus km/h over the posted speed limit).

These drivers were all charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for excessive speed, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
