Driver facing charges following crash

Charges are pending against a 21-year-old Penticton man following a two-vehicle accident on Fairview Road Monday which sent one person to hospital.

Charges are pending against a 21-year-old Penticton man following a two-vehicle accident on Fairview Road Monday which sent one person to hospital.

Staff Sgt. Dave Fayle of the Penticton RCMP said excessive speed appears to have a been a factor in the crash.

Witnesses reported the GMC pickup struck one vehicle, hit a utility pole, crossed the street and eventually came to rest up against a tree in the front yard of 1064 Fairview.

Penticton Fire Rescue personnel cut down the brush around the truck and freed the driver who was lodged beneath the dashboard.

He was helped to a stretcher and taken by ambulance to Penticton Regional Hospital with what are not believed to be serious injuries.

Meanwhile a 48-year-old Kelowna man was airlifted by helicopter to Kelowna General Hospital following a motorcycle accident on Green Mountain Road Sunday.

According to Sgt. Rick Dellebuur of Penticton RCMP, the accident happened about 5 p.m. near Marron Valley Road when the man apparently lost control of the bike and crashed.

His injuries were reported to be serious at the time, however, his current condition was not available.
