A 28-year-old Langford man was recently arrested in Sooke by Sooke RCMP for having approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of gamma-hydroxybutrate (GHB), leading to the execution of a search warrant Monday night (Feb. 9) on a residence in the 3000 block of Jacklin Road.
The search warrant turned up an additional undisclosed amount of GHB. No additional people were found in the residence at the time of the execution of the warrant.
West Shore RCMP are recommending drug-related charges against the man, whose name cannot be released until charges are approved.
“The concerning part was that there is a school across the road from where the drugs were seized,” said Cont. Alex Berube, spokesperson for West Shore RCMP. “Through continuing efforts targeting illicit drugs, the RCMP has many initiatives to reduce demand for such substances through prevention and awareness.”
