Drunk driver loses his wheels

Police responded May 9 to a call about a possible drunk driver leaving a parking lot at Fort Street and Foul Bay Road at 2:40 p.m.

When officers caught up with a car matching the description on CRanmore Road, they gave the 25-year-old driver a roadside breathalyzer test. His blood-alcohol reading registered higher than 0.08 per cent.

Based on the situation, the man was handed a 90-day driving prohibition and his car was impounded for 30 days. To get the vehicle back, he’ll have to complete a responsible driver program and have an ignition interlock breath-tester installed for at least one year.
